The Academy’s middle school and high school Science Olympiad teams are moving on to the national tournament at Michigan State University in May following wins at the state tournament at New Mexico Tech in Soccoro. Each Academy team faced 19 other schools.
The competition consists of 23 events covering life science, earth and space science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and general scientific knowledge. Students work in pairs on either tests, labs, construction of devices, or hybrids of the three. The team score is the sum of the places in all events, and the lowest score wins.
